Dr. Thomas Walker State Historic Site
1/1

Dr. Walker was the first white man to build a house in the state of Kentucky. He was here 19 years before Daniel Boone and he also named the Cumberland Gap and the Cumberland River after the Duke of Cumberland. He left the markers so it was very easy for Boone to navigate through the Cumberland Gap after Walker paved the way.
