Old Breathitt County Jail
Old Breathitt County Jail is located behind the courthouse in Jackson and is on the National Register of Historic places. The jail was built by WPA workers in the late 1930s and is constructed of native sandstone, quarried from the mountainside by local workers. The Hazard Pavilion was built in 1988 and is one of the most comprehensive indoor recreation centers in Kentucky.
